形態特徵

• Low annual with brownish fibrous roots only. Culms tufted, erect to ascending, 10-18 cm tall, triquetrous with concave sides, few.leaved at base.
• Leaves shorter than culm; blades flat, narrowly linear, 2-2.5 mm long, minutely spinulose on upper margins and long abaxial costa toward apex, light green, soft; sheaths light brown or reddish brown.
• Inflorescence an obovoidal or a globose dense cluster of many spikelets, 12-15 mm across, whitish green; leafy bracts 3-7, longer than inflorescence, patent to reflexed. Spikelets oblong to lanceolate-oblong, weakly laterally flattened, 4-5 mm long, ca. 1.5 mm wide, 10-20-flowered.
• Glumes in part spirally disposed or rather irregularly 2-ranked, lanceolateoblong, 1.5-2 mm long, abruptly acute at more or less recurved mucronate apexs thinly membranaceous, yellowish or pale-greenish, 3-nerved green keel convexed above. Achenes linear-oblong, planoconvexed or obcompressed, trigonous, narrowly wing-like on edges, 2/3 to 3/4 as long as glume, light brownish at maturity, finely cancellated with transversely oblong-hexagonal epidermal cells; style short; stigmas 2 (rarely 3). Stamen 1.

• 台灣 : Open wet places, often seen on fertile soil in cultivated grounds.
• 世界 : Widely spread in temperate and subtropical regions of Eurasia.
